Welcome to PUFFA

The Philadelphia Urban Food and Fitness Alliance (PUFFA) is a collaborative of organizations and individuals working to improve the lives of vulnerable children and communities.

What is PUFFA?

The W.K. Kellogg Foundation sponsors PUFFA and selected Health Promotion Council (HPC) as one of nine grantee communities across the country to create a Community Action Plan in partnership with its community to address food and fitness access issues. Working on behalf of the community, HPC leads PUFFA in response to addressing the issues and achieving a healthier, vibrant Philadelphia. Following a planning phase from April 2007 to October 2009, HPC, successfully led PUFFA to receive a three year award to implement its Community Action Plan.

What does PUFFA mean to Philadelphia?

PUFFA is truly grassroots with a strong collaboration made up of residents, youth, community-based organizations, schools, libraries, recreation centers and gardeners. All come together in PUFFA to make the places where they live and work healthier and safer.
